Where does the darkness in your stories come from? I love it, but I'm curious.

And for an easier one: What can we do to save our society, in your view?

Yes, thank you. Something that concerns me is that it seems to be getting easier and easier to ignore what makes us uncomfortable. (I'm thinking smartphones, internet/media echo chambers, etc.) "Not My Problem." I wonder how all this turns out.

What do you imagine we need to do as a society to address the problems of homelessness? What changes should we make to our laws and/or social norms?

I don't think I am necessarily all that dark.

Thinking of the Rifters, or Blindsight's look at consciousness, for instance, I don't know... But either way I appreciate that aspect that I take from your work as a chance to get in touch with those aspects of humanity that I might not otherwise look at. Reading about the Rifters really helped me see the humanity in humanity's monsters. So thank you.

Maybe put me in charge?

Ha! Nice try! I've heard that one before. Really though, do you have any ideas about realistic social movements? Just curious about your take. I read your answer about tit for tat with cops for example but... don't you think taking away their funding might be a little more, uh, workable?
