I have seen imaging videos of a dramatic pruning process occurring during the teenage years that is a natural function of every human brain. Jung mentioned the midlife of a person is a peak moment for embracing elements of themselves neglected through the first half of their life, typically instigated by a sense of dissatisfaction. What other essential stages are there if any, and how might they be managed effectively?

I've heard the speculations that the same mechanism out of control could be what causes schizophrenia too. It seems like an ongoing area of investigation currently without much solid evidence yet.
