Literally, I broke my leg, told em I didnt have insurance (auto insurance ended up paying for it, thankfully). They x-rayed it, did an ultrasound on it, knocked the bones back in place, put a splint on it, gave me a business card for a surgeon, told me to call him first thing in the morning, kicked me out ASAP, and naked (cant wear jeans with a splint on your leg...) I go to the surgeon, get surgery set up for the next day, auto insurance ended up stepping up and offering to pay, literally the hospital wasnt planning on lettintg me have surgery without a payment arrangement and down payment. Would never be able to walk again if i didnt have money....
Oh yeah, and if you like, dont have a car or money, and get taken in an ambulance to the hospital, even with insurance, they do NOTHING to help you get home at all, and wont let you drive yourself if theyve given you narcotics, of course. Why cant they just pay for your $2 bus ride and bill you $200 for it?
That said, 3 years later, leg is fine. Got great treatment. Managed to not get addicted to heroin in the process.
