Don't want to speak for OP but 'motorcycle boots' can cover a big range of footware. Some of which would have helped (like full on race boots) and much of which (traditional leather with a bit of armour) would have likely done fuck all.

Once enough force is involved to pretty much rip off your foot (christ I wish I never looked at the photos) then a bit of extra leather isn't going to do much. Unless you're wearing something really very high end and made for the track then it's not going to do much once you get into these kind of forces.
