Last summer i was at Hamborgarabúllu Tómasar (Tommy's hamburger joint) and a group of whaling protesters came in and ordered hamburgers. I couldn't believe the irony, they had been standing outside protesting the killing of these innocent animals and for lunch they had a slaughtered cow cooked on a grill.

It's not exactly the same because the whales are free but the cows are farmed but still

I don't really have a strong opinion about Iceland's whaling but i do think we are better off not hunting them just because of the international backlash.

However, I must say i find it pretty stupid when i hear people from the US complain about this because you have these huge american oil companies using sonar to find oil as well as army/navy exercises using sonar and killing a lot of them in the process.

We have had some protesters coming here for the last couple of summers and last summer i asked them while they were handing out flyers downtown if they knew how many whales and dolphins and other marine life is killed every year in the US because of these sonar uses. They didn't even know about this and were quite stunned.

When i see these protesters i feel like they are focusing on a insignificant number of whales killed here instead of focusing on the almost industrial scale of their killing in the US and other countries.

But hey they are getting attention to whaling and the killing of whales which i guess is good nonetheless.

Hmm.. not sure, i guess in my opinion it's more humane to let it roam free and then hunt it and kill it in a humane way and for food. That's also one of the reasons i don't agree with our hunting of the whales, it's not a commercially popular product in Iceland and i don't think that the currency we get for selling it to Japan for some luxury dog food is enough for all this bad publicity we get for it.

Any killing of animals is pretty brutal though but at least for me until there is a suitable replacement that i like i'll keep eating meat.

What is your opinion?

Also this isn't exactly the same topic that we are talking about but a couple months ago i heard a episode of This American Life titled Animal Sacrifice. The second act is partly about a rabbit butchering class that i found pretty interesting. It talks about the killing of animals for food

I have a question and it may be a bit shitty but why did you use your computer or phone to sell to your friends?

I would think that if I were planning on selling drugs I would never use any medium which can be traced so directly to me whether it's on the phone or using facebook or whatnot. I have heard of a few cases where the people selling drugs were sending facebook messages to each other in a really basic code about buying them and it always struck me as a bit odd being that careless.

Did the police discover your code quickly or did you explain it to them when you plead guilty and then they tried to use it in the prosecution?
