As someone who simply watches everything with the captions on, thank you for doing this. It hugely increases my enjoyment of many shows.

The one question I do have is about comedy. How do you convey, for example, the delivery of a joke where the emphasis or speaking style is crucial to the humour, for example a very dry punchline to a darker joke? The same applies to puns where the key is a rhyme or similar sound that isn't obvious from the spelling.

Not OP but IIRC the answer to number 4 is that usually the subtitle credits are part of the subtitle track. At the end of the show, the subtitles read something like "Captioned by /u/CCSubsThrowaway" or their company. I believe it's done this way since the subtitling is often made anew for syndication, as different broadcasters have individual standardised formats and requirements.

As someone who watches everything with subtitles, SovietWomble's captioning is my absolute favourite. That said, he carefully crafts his videos with such subtitling in mind, and so the composition favours "fun" subtitles such as an "Aaaaaagh" disappearing into the distance with the character, following their path of motion.

I would imagine that if you didn't have the same kind of creative control then constructing such captions without them distracting from or altering the original experience would be extremely difficult.
