If at the age of 68 I get the chance to go to another country with a completely different job (say I was a chemist and I become a programmer), I wouldn't mind more brain plasticity. Maybe not that of a baby, but at least that of a teen. I wouldn't mind learning the language quickly and without an accent and the ability to study more efficiently, even if it is at the expense of partially forgetting my previous life. This way I would have lived not one but two (entangled) stories.

About this idea that too much brain plasticity would force people to relearn everything constantly, would that truly be the case? If the human brain was just software, I'm sure there would be a way to avoid this (computationally), although probably not with current technology.

When do you think it will be technologically possible to restore the plasticity of adult brains to match that of children? And what will be the method used?
