Bernie, big supporter here. I’m moving to Burlington here in a couple weeks, so maybe I’ll see you sometime.

Two questions for you:

  1. You have been one of the few vocal critics against the war in Iraq from the beginning. Do you think there can be just wars? And in what case would you be willing to commit armed forces into other countries?

  2. Which thinkers have helped shaped your views the most?

As y'all grow and add more and more shows/podcasts, do you ever fear becoming part of the noise you so aptly criticize?

Also, what piece of modern political writing most impresses you (Obama speeches notwithstanding)?

Big fan!

It's a pretty facile point.

If someone says that the local high school provides lunch, I don't shout "TAXPAYERS pay for those lunches!!" like a child.

Jeezy Creezy, those books are fantastic.

I've tried to get people to read them but it's nearly impossible to describe what makes them so incredible. You can say it's about the death of his father, about moving on, about fulfillment in life, but none of these actually represent what the books are really about. You almost want to say that Knausgaard shows how to survive, how to move through the paralysis of minutiae and try to come out the other end. Unfortunately, as Knausgaard keeps reminding us, the other end is death; the ultimate end.

Such a beautiful fucking series.
