To answer the questions you pose at the end of your AMA:

  1. At present I'd like to spend my bitcoins alongside my normal cash, but can't because there aren't many places that accept it around me. So I'm mostly holding for speculation.

  2. If we're thinking big and futuristic, I don't see why bitcoin can't become a parallel international currency. Or perhaps a behind-the-scenes method of inter-bank trading with a common ledger. There's also no reason it couldn't work the same as a modern version of gold.

  3. My biggest problem at the moment is that Apple refuses to allow bitcoin wallets on the iPhone, making any spending I'd like to do even more problematic than it is.
