Do you cook everything from scratch? Do you have a garden and a small flock of chickens? Do you use modern toiletry items? Here's one... did you replace the plaster and lathe with sheetrock? (I live in a 1938 house, and I LOVE plaster and lathe.) How well have the clothes held up after repeated wearing and modern washer/dryers? Did you replace the windows yet?

My dad committed suicide after a lifetime of depression. It made him mentally the way you are physically. It hurt me beyond what I could imagine pain could be like, I felt like he abandoned me (I was 36 at the time) and then I had an epiphany: WHy should he stay alive for me? Why should he endure pain because I don't want him to be gone from me? I miss him every day and think of all the things he taught me, and am glad for that time.

However... I am a 45 y/o mom of 3 girls, 18, 16, and 11. I would hate to have to make the decision you are faced with. Your girls are intelligent, and can probably empathize with your situation of not wanting to be sick anymore, and they deserve to be part of your decision making process. I am also a veterinarian, and NOTHING deserves to suffer. You have a tough decision, and ultimately it's yours. Best of luck. Thanks for sharing your story.

Does the mining affect the lab, as in jiggling stuff or getting dust everywhere? Also is there any fracking going on nearby and if so, has it affected the mine?

I'm a veterinarian and do surgery almost daily, and it never fails that I don't flip fluids around. Have you ever been splattered by an artery or a popped abscess or a necrotic tumor?

Happens in Kansas, too, ticks me off because I don't have 4 wheel drive to get thru it. However, since we only have a real snowstorm once every 2 years, it's not that big of a deal.
