J.K. Rowling has boxes of notes of backstory for her characters. On the other hand, Stephen King pretty much sits down and lets 'er rip, and sees where things go. Two phenomenally successful writers and are polar opposites in how they approach things. Each has their advantages and disadvantages.

The answer is that what works for one author doesn't necessarily work for another author. Successful writers do what works for them. If you don't know, experiment until you do. (And read Stephen King's On Writing, which is fantastic.)

Oh so it will probably turn into Seal Team 6 taking out Jesus to ensure Christianity.

No, they need to figure out how to add a romance to pull in the female demographic, because the latter typically turns away from war epics. Guarantee the final script will have an army officer falling in love with a local woman, and the officer will be torn between the woman he loves* and his loyalty to his unit.

*Of course, back in Roman days, hygiene was a whole different thing, but she'll look like she just came out of a modern salon.

I recently took a cruise with Princess to Alaska (it was a great trip, the whole family had a great time -- I recommend cruises for anyone).

But what was odd was that they had a huge area devoted to art auctions. With the amount of ship real estate devoted to showing the art, it must make a lot of money, but how does that happen? Are there people who take cruises specifically for the art auction? Or are there really that many impulse buys from the regular passengers?

My wife and I walked through it. They had some cool stuff here and there, but I couldn't imagine going out of my way to spend a pile of money on it.

1) Because the best way to kill a company is to push politics at people who aren't there for politics, and 2) Twitter is not a person, it's a corporation, filled with shareholders with different opinions. It's one thing to have an official stance on something, it's another thing to start using resources to push a political point of view.

Everyone hates when corporations use their muscle to push political views -- except evidently when they push something someone agrees with.

All their food is paid for, though, right? Do you ever have to spend any money while you're working? I would imagine that if you're frugal, you could sock it all away. Though, $800/month is pretty crappy, even if everything else is covered.
