I guess what immediately comes to mind, not having been there, are more questions about how it happened.

Past LOTO,

When this machine started up, wasn't there an emergency stop? Did the temp just not hear you?

How long did the accident last? Was it just a few seconds?

Isn't there a breaker you can pull before working on these things?

Why isn't there a safety mechanism along the track to shut it off or a grille to stop very large objects falling in?

And finally: How many colors of the rainbow were you simultaneously, and how did you go on to also survive daytime TV during your recovery?

I live in southern CA and haven't had to deal with snow, so it was weird to me to find so many states making it the residents responsibility to clear public spaces, essentially forcing you to labor in conditions that could easily cause an injury. I also wonder what happens if it snows and you're away from home. In some places it seems to be a misdemeanor not to clear it the same afternoon. Other states don't require you to clear it and you could be sued if you do clear it and someone falls e.g. due to ice.

Bizarre.

Hi Louis, iFixit team.

Thanks in part to your efforts I've repaired so much stuff around the house. The kettle, the TV, multiple monitors, joycons, synthesizers, printers, smartphones, the list goes on. Screw anyone who tries to claim consumers can't do this. With so many people sharing great information it is easier every day, and if companies were forced to open repair information it would be easier still.

It's also important that you take some responsibility for filling my tiny space with soldering irons, oscilloscopes, esd mats, wires, tools, and generally things that drive my wife crazy. She would want you to know you're bad people.

Keep up the badness :)

I suppose an AMA needs a question: What are your hopes that manufacturers have to open design/repair manuals so we can do more PCB repair on more devices? It drives me nuts that these are held as proprietary for mundane devices these days. I can find diagrams for synths from the 90s far more easily than synths from the past 20 years. This is insane. Any progress on laws around this?
