How's your unit been since then? My husband is Army, and they're losing more guys now that they're home (suicide & alcohol related), and have nothing good to say about the VA. What's your experience been?

Do you feel like it gave you your confidence back?

Also, do you ever think about wanting to deploy again?

I know in FRG meetings they warn us that this may happen when our spouses return, & sure enough, suddenly my hubby wanted a street bike, fast cars, and any activity that would be death defying & adrenaline inducing. So I think it's pretty common.

It would kill me to acutely save people's lives only to see them slowly kill themselves the next day.

Wouldn't there be a fair amount of this in psychiatry? My psychiatrist saved my life, basically, but always tells me "you did the work, you need to thank yourself." Which leads me to believe that some people just, well, don't do the work.

On another note- kudos to you for working/ wanting to work in mental health. Good doctors doing good work in mental health are hard to lock down, as a patient, and we need more of you!

I believe that! I can't imagine caring for so many people, on top of friends and family already in your life.

Maybe just forget years of med school and be a chiropractor? They're helpful too... ;)
