This is the first ever observed interstellar object in our solar system. The whole event is improbable. The possibility of alien life is not an unprofessional topic, infact it's exactly the type of thing citizens expect NASA to investigate and is one of humanity's most important existential questions. This object is interesting precisely because it's so unlike anything we've ever seen before. Why not consider other possibilities, we don't yet know how probable alien life is. In-fact Drake equation tells us it should be quite likely.

Thanks Karen! Why did the classification change to Comet?

Did NASA change the classification from Asteroid to Comet based on the detection of non-gravitational acceleration and the most likely explanation of outgassing? Could this be confirmation bias?

Why not, is NASA closed to the possibility of this idea?
