What's the difference between product development and research? What kind of projects do you work on or have worked on in the past to give us some examples for both?

What product/development are you most proud of? Has there been any project that didn't work out? Why? Any new plans?

I never use oils (or propanediol, or almost any DECIEM product) on their own, I always mix them (in my hand).

Try using 1-2 drops of oil/hemi squalan/propanediol-based serums with 5 drops of something watery like Marine Hyaluronics, Amino Acids or Lactic Acid. Add another 1-2 drops of a water based serum (e.g. Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid) if you like. On a well-cleansed face, those mixtures absorb instantly and definitely much better than each of the products on their own.

The hemi-squalan doesn't like to be mixed with some heavier products, it turns into a white emulsion which looks nasty for a few minutes. But I don't think that's an issue with any of the "real" oils. Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil btw is super dry and not greasy at all, but I would only recommend it if either you're not pale/light skinned or able to use a decent moisturizer on top of an oil (not everyone can, but that's the only method that mitigates much of the yellow tint it leaves behind).

I know it sounds funny but often, using several products actually helps with the absorption of all of them, while anyone of them used on their own might just sit on your face. I struggle with that too, and it took me a while to figure it out, but this method has never failed me.

Hi, thank you so much for doing the AMA. And your work in general :) I was wondering what kind of tests new products go through? Besides some stability stuff I suppose, how do you test the texture, effect, interactions etc?

He specifically mentions PEGs and 1,4-Dioxane in his comment.
