Orcist, this comment is so beautifully expressed. You've really interpreted Nia's characterization of our father perfectly. Our father's actions, albeit oppressive, were motivated by love and concern. It helped to have a mother who tempered the limitations with an openess to expressing our family's values in a new, progressive way.
