I alway felt that he never seemed genuine in interviews... but I also feel the same way with Will Smith who is not a Scientologist.

I think he just dabbled in it and made some large donations. He seems to "research" things if he interested and then claims he's a "student of X"... in this case religion. Other times he claimed he's a physicist. He really belongs on /r/iamverysmart sometimes.
