I'm all for protecting Mother Earth, but I feel like if she were given the choice between a pipeline and thousands of trains/trucks/boats, she'd choose pipeline.

We had a similar problem in my town on whether or not to build power lines or bury them. People immediately started smear campaigns and starting making scientifically unbased claims in order to have them buried. As it turned out, people were completely fine with the towers as long as they weren't in view of them.

There are some people that are going to get shit cards when society moves forward with industrialization, but I feel it's a necessary evil in order to better serve the majority of the people.

It would be amazing if we were able to end our reliance on oil, but I don't see that happening in the next few decades, so we may as well do the best with what we've got. The pipeline will be more efficient as well as safer. When the pipeline spills, the companies have to spend millions of dollars to clean it up and some ducks die (but not nearly as many die from hitting wind mills). When a train crashes, people die, which is completely unacceptable to me.
