I've volunteered as a victim for ATLS classes before, which means I was a simulated critical trauma patient for doctors getting their certification. I 'died' probably one in every six or seven scenarios, which kinda freaks me out.

Their goal is to get the best outcome for their client, including the shortest possible sentence. Mandatory minimums mean that the attorney can only get the client so much leniency.
