I suppose it depends on the tradition. In my tradition (Soto Zen) we don't explicitly consider him to be a Buddha - in fact I don't think he's present in any of the Japanese schools of Zen. I suspect he's more of a Chinese Zen (Chan) figure more than anything.

Too few Canadians are willing to stand up for what they believe in and believe the only guiding principle in our lives should be the economy. What are some fun ways to tell them their views are bad and they should feel bad?
