Jordan - major congrats on GET OUT. I got to see it last night and was impressed with how gripping the movie was from start to finish, through moments of comedy and terror. The tone and urgency reminded me of Wes Craven's underrated thriller RED EYE, and I was curious if that might have been an influence. I'm also a big fan of your baby-mama-to-be Chelsea Peretti (congrats!) and there were a couple of pieces of quirky dialogue that felt like her voice might have crept into the script a bit. Did she have any influence on the movie?

Hi GDT! Thank you for sharing all your distinct and brilliant creativity with the world. I love your work and am excited to see your adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness come to fruition, no matter the MPAA rating (but please try to prepare a R-rated cut for separate release, if possible!) I am delighted that you are taking questions, because I have one that I would love for you to answer.

Towards the end of Pacific Rim, there is a sequence that I think contains some footage that is shown in "fast forward" relative to the speed at which it was shot. It is when Raleigh has taken Gipsy through the breach, and unstraps from the cockpit to move to Gipsy's core. The clip can be seen here, at the 1:20 mark: http://youtu.be/vmoN6Yn-mpo?t=1m20s I think the footage has been speeded up, but my friends think I am imagining this effect. I am probably somewhat biased since I may have been under the influence of psychedelics the first time I saw this scene, but I've since seen it plenty of times sober or otherwise intoxicated and I still feel that the footage appears to be moving extra fast! So please settle this so I might win back the respect of my peers: did you speed up any of the footage in Pacific Rim to make the action seem more kinetic?

Awesome - thanks for the response and for all your excellent work. I definitely need to watch The People Under the Stairs again - it's been too long! I think the goofy moments of intimate banter between Rose & Chris were where I picked up on those Chelsanity vibes, so maybe that's in line with what you're saying.

Here is that index card.

Coincidentally, the same group that gathered to watch Pacific Rim (and was subjected to many viewings of the contentious "fast-forward" scene) was together again tonight, watching the previous Planet of the Apes movie in preparation for the new one. We discussed your response to my question, and I have won back the respect of my friends! It feels wonderful for my shame to be washed away. Thank you!
