Yes indeed, we get at least 1 death per day. There has been a couple of incidents toward the outsiders. It may be fun, but we got a couple of Canadians killed by pirates, yes, pirates. Since then we make it hard for the thugs to approach outsiders, our problems should never affect others, just us. But chances is that OP will have a safe and sound trip. We will make sure it stays that way so he can enjoy. If you decide to come, Copan should be priority.

Normally if you stay inside the tourist areas everything will be fine because security reasons, but once you get out of that boundary there is chances that you will meet your demise. We the local ones try by all means to hide this to outsiders, we don't want our problems to affect them at all cost so they can enjoy their stay, we even do this outside of the tourist areas.

Too bad you wont be for eastern week, the place becomes colorful with lots of food. Make sure to stay a little bit more, the place is really peaceful and and there is always people form different countries.
