I was a cna for a year. I worked in a nursing home that was chronically understaffed and honestly? I loved my people and worked my ass off but there just wasn't enough time to take care of 10 people, many of which were two person assists, do two showers, all my charting and spend time doing all the nice little details too. Bonding I did while getting you ready for bed, sometimes make up didn't get done and charting was put off till the very end. Add on to the fact that I make more at a call center then I did there? It's easy to get burned out and move on. Keep in mind I can count the number of 15min breaks I took on one hand it was that busy and I still couldn't do it all. That gets to you and sometimes that makes people give up.

I always wanted a bed with a conveyor belt in the middle to scooch people up in bed without lifting them. Just push a button and the resident can position themselves or you can position them!

There are no legal resident caps in my state so assigning me 10 people to a group was difficult it was perfectly legal. As for the breaks I could have taken them, I just didn't because doing so would have put me behind enough to hurt more. (And I didn't want my residents to have to wait any longer). I usually tried to chart on my fifteens if I could but if someone had to toilet I'm toiletting someone.

The attends through the pants was a revelation when I learned it.
