Could you explain about the different types of bipolar?

I've been diagnosed with bipolar after I was hospitalised because of a severe manic episode. I thought I had bipolar 1, but my mania was caused by being put on antidepressants and benzos. I've subsequently read that you can't be diagnosed with bipolar 1 if your mania was caused by drugs so I'm a bit confused by all the different things I've been reading to try and educate myself about my illness.

I was taking lots of different things, but I'm currently just taking Epilim as a mood stabiliser. It's been over a year since I was hospitalised and I've yet to experience any mania or hypomania so I guess that's a good thing and shows the medication is working. I'm pretty terrified of antidepressants and benzos and don't see myself taking them in the future. I had surgery a couple of months ago and had hypnosis/meditation instead of premed in order to avoid taking benzos.
