Have you (over)heard any of the congressmen/women privately say things completely contrary to what they say in public? Especially their political or religious beliefs? Especially flip-floppers?

I know someone who has schizophrenia, and has relapsed twice. By relapsing, I mean both times this person for some reason (for the second time it could be some chemical in the diet that contradicts the effects of the medication). Anyway, my questions are:

  • What percentage of patients refuse to take their medication and how do you professionals deal with it? Blend it with food/drink? Force feed? Then what if they refuse to eat/drink completely?

  • Do you know someone who gradually tones down the amount of medication they are taking and eventually goes medication-free? Is this rare? How rare?

  • What is the most horrible thing a mentally challenged person did that you saw/experienced first- or second-hand?

  • Conversely, what is the nicest thing such a person has done for you? Or something that moved you the most?

  • How do you go into such a profession? Is there a certain major in college/grad school? What was your career path?

Sorry that I have so many questions. I have experienced this matter personally and I empathize with the patients and you guys working to improve their living/mental conditions. Thank you!
