They charge businesses to have their documents/webpages translated by DuoLingo users. Luis explains in his TED talk that their research at CMU showed that novice translations are as correct as professional ones if you combine dozens of attempts to get a common understanding.

Crowdsourcing translations (and eventually instruction) seems like it'll be great on average, and even statistically significant in its positives, and yet it would seem that negative outliers are inevitable that just wouldn't happen when dealing with experts. Do you have plans to account for this?

StackOverflow does a nice job at making every effort to prevent repeated questions (through liberal use of auto-complete even in the question itself).
