First, excellent work!

Are there any plans to work in the Balkans? Croatia and the Greek-Turkish border both contain a massive amount of mines and are mostly unmapped.

As far as I can tell from the report, one of their taken actions was inappropriate and another utterly dangerous:

  1. Firing upon a dog is not an appropriate response to the dog's aggression in this case. Here's what you do instead: you body block him (or her), without making eye contact. You do not yell, kick objects at it, or flail your hands. Command it sternly and aggressively to back off, but do not raise your voice. Still avoid eye contact. If the dog attacks, fight back; hit or kick it in the nose, throat, or behind its head (not over it, that is not effective). Bring your entire body weight on the dog via your knees & elbows and immobilise it. If the dog does not attack it's clear they're protecting their territory; so either wait for the owner to collect it by keeping the same stance or keep commanding it to back off until it does. The usage of a gun in a situation like this is unnecessary.

EDIT: It would probably be wise to mention that since the dog's aggression was aimed at a K-9, it should've been taken farther away temporarily. It served no tactical role during the situation anyway.

  1. Firing at the ground. This is completely irresponsible and much more dangerous than the other alternative (fire at the sky). The risk of a ricochet far outweighs the risk from bullets falling at greater than terminal velocity inside a residential area. At any rate, I don't consider firing at the dog a proper course of action; firing at the sky to scare it off, maybe, but it's still risky.

I would expect the DA to investigate why these actors followed improper course of action, in a disciplinary hearing. I can't help but imagine they haven't had any sort of proper training, so they could react in a calm and collected manner in an animal aggression incident like this, however that's pure speculation.

It's very interesting that the homes of the dead, in that line of thinking, are more important than the homes of the living.
