The National Geographic SOCIETY is not owned by Rupert Murdoch. It is a non-profit institution ran by a board of trustees. The National Geographic PARTNERS is what you're thinking about. They run the Nat Geo channels and publish the magazine. They are owned by both the NGS (~30%) and Fox (~70%).

Let me ask you something. Did you watch Cosmos (2014)? I bet you did. Do you piss and moan about that being broadcast on Fox, or did you celebrate it for bringing science to a new generation?
