Is 5-6 hours of sleep in a pitch black room better than eight hours in a bright-ish room?

You also pay up to 51% of your income in taxes. I live in Sweden and it drives me crazy to hear people talk about how “cheap” healthcare is, without factoring in the tax burden. The healthcare system is better here than the US, IMO, especially for people with low incomes, but doctor visits etc are as much or more than I was paying in the US when you factor in taxes.
