These responses are such hilarious tangents that I feel like I'm watching an Arizona vs UCLA game.

Congrats on your books success. Is there a hard copy of this book available? Amazon only seems to list Kindle and audible.

A completely different dimension to this question is explored in a book I read on Oppenheimer called "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer". A point there is made that there was a date given by the Russians on when they would join the war in the Pacific against the Japanese and the US government wanted to end the war before the Russians got involved and took some credit. The US government desperately wanted to keep the Russians out of decisions made in post war Japan. There was no time for an invasion to happen before the Russians joined in so this contributed to the decision to use the bomb.

Also, the book cites evidence that just prior to the use of the bomb the Japanese were engaging in unofficial talks of surrender through back channels and that their surrender was eminent. However, the US government also saw value in using the bomb as a demonstration to Russia as the cold war had really already begun.

The book is interesting to see these events through the eyes of the men who created the bomb and counter most of them were to using it.
