There is a positive relationship between the cost of a product and it's perceived quality. The second link I've included may be worth checking out in full (I've only read the abstract) as it is related specifically to online tourism sites, price and perceived quality.

Basically, people think that the things they are buying are better quality if it costs more, or lower quality if it costs less, relatively speaking.
