One of the very few media figures I genuinely respect, outside of some musicians and a couple political activists (edit: and certain intellectuals of various types and professions, of which Bourdain is one. His work is smart) Not bad company to be in. He literally has the life I've tried to live, especially the travel, cultural immersion, and rich yet very well chosen indulgences. I'm the son of a small-town Klansman but I nearly married my Polish high school sweetheart, eventually married an Ethiopian/Kenyan, worked in Saudi Arabia and Thailand, courted in India, and learned rice and pig farming in the Philippines, before life made me sit down. Anthony Bourdain makes my life look dull.
