I was glad to see Bechdel's Fun Home as an additional book mentioned. I hope we have time to talk about that, too, since like Maus, it received high praise as literature, not simply as a "comic."

What program/tool will we use to make our own comic? Will we need special software or computer platform?

David Small's nearly wordless memoir is brilliant. Especially a powerful read for teens.

I know that it was mentioned earlier that we're reading American graphic novels, so no Persepolis. A shame since I like the transition of Satrapi from page to screen while keeping the same asthetic of the GN. Persepolis is a great book & still very popular with young women -- our local college used it as a common read for incoming freshman this year!
