Do you cut your own firewood, at your property? Will your 180 acres supply you with firewood indefinitely? (I.e., trees grow back as fast as you harvest them)

To some extent Moore's law is a coordinating mechanism for the semiconductor industry. The people who make lithography equipment, the people who build fabs, and the people who design all need to be in sync. Each has multi-year lead times and needs to make common assumptions about where the state of the art will be in 5 years. So to some extent Moore's Law is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
