How do you think Metafilter has changed in the past 5 (or 10, or 15) years? What positive changes have there been, and what worrying changes have you seen?

I'm a subscriber to The Atlantic and I look forward to seeing your articles in the magazine and online because I know they'll be interesting and engaging. You are also a prolific writer, and the topics you write about are so varied.

How do you come up with ideas for what types of articles to write and how do you know (or think you know) what will make an interesting topic?

How long did it take you to create? What programs/languages did you use to create it?

Two more general, open-ended questions:

• Can you give a short overview of how electrodynamics influence Saturn's thermosphere? Like, what are the most important or interesting results that you have found.

• what's your general philosophy for teaching undergrads? Physics has a reputation as a challenging subject, so how do you see your role as someone who teaches the subject?
