Hi Dr. Stein!

I'm a West Virginian. Coal is a lifestyle in this state and the people of southern WV have been suffering because of a massive decrease in jobs. How will you be able to promote clean energy while making sure that jobs are available to coal-dependent areas?

Because as the saying goes, "Coal is West Virginia". I don't like it, but that's the reality. We can talk about clean energy until our faces turn blue, but at the end of the day, West Virginians aren't going to let their jobs be jeopardized. The southern part of the state faces extreme poverty now because of the decline in coal. We can't just go "lol sucks to be you" and let the population down there suffer. There needs to be an actual plan to transition these local economies.
