Did several blue gun drills with just that situation when I was in skills... It's mind blowing when you come to the realization that someone can close in on you from 21 feet faster than you can draw and get on target. Even at that, we watched several dash cam videos showing shots being placed on target within that closing period without stopping or slowing the attacker.
