I've seen black bears in WA about 4 times...each time I only see their backside because they are running away. In MT I spotted brown bears (grizzlies? In Glacier Natl Park) and they were not nearly so timid.

That's kinda one of my favorite parts of the show; even if it's a bit predictable. Not the characters themselves, but that there will be a few of them.

Also from Voyager: * Black Vulcan (I thought it was pretty cool, never thought of aliens having different races like people) * Half-Klingon half-human (token mixed character, why not) * former Borg (but Borg are the bad guys!)

One of the patterns it seems is that the former bad guys become friendly. In ToS, the Russian is a friend, in TNG the Klingon is a friend, in VOY the Borg is a friend. I never watched DS9 much but someone might be able to pull an example for me to bolster my theory.

It infuriates me when I see people use insure instead of ensure, but I looked it up a while ago and found:

Insure can also mean to make certain by taking action and precautions.

I'm pretty sure people just changed the meaning over time because they misused the word so much.

He starts to come back in the end of the season though, when you see him as a child, and when the boy emperor is clinging onto him...kind of sweet in a weird evil kind of way.

Yeah, DS9 breaks the pattern but that show is different anyways in that it takes place on a station rather than a ship so I cut it some slack.
