Many extinct species have no longer have ecological niches - some have been supplanted by novel species, other niches simply no longer occur in nature. Thus many possible revived species could never be expected survive in the wild. How do you plan to handle that?

What is the best way to get back into the field? I had to work for a few years after completing my undergraduate studies in philosophy. I'd always intending to pursue philosophy as a graduate student, but after my hiatus (and without access to journals) I feel disconnected from the community.

Honestly, I have no idea. Maybe tweak the genome to make individuals more resistant to malaria? That could bring about unforeseen problems though - sickle cell comes to mind in this case. But I think your question reiterates mine without addressing it. What's the plan for the mammoth? Where will it live? How? Can you effectively accommodate the stress on an ecosystem that reintroducing long-extinct species to it would necessarily bring? Or would these animals live in zoos only?
