Your mileage may vary, but when I went I was absolutely overwhelmed. It was tasteful; the folks hawking 9/11 memorial photobooks around the site, not so much. But they aren't allowed on the actual site.
I walked up to the side of part of the memorial, started reading the names, and thinking how nicely it was all done. And then I realized that it was the footprint of one of the towers, and that you can barely see to the other side of it. And that there was another next to it. The enormity of it in person is breathtaking.

My first thought too. The system's strengths are the exact things that would make it vulnerable to astroturfing.
