They can be, it's painstaking, time consuming, and an expensive investment. There are a number of small orchards in the US. Yield is the issue. Once you plant spore inoculated trees, it takes years for the truffles to show up and produce consistent yield. This means planting a LOT of trees, making sure the soil remains perfect during those years after initially making the soil perfect to start it, etc. It becomes very costly with a long ROI assuming everything goes to plan.

I was hoping something else may have existed that I didn't know about. Great site by the way and thanks for the answer. Yamachan has been my go to when I didn't feel like making the trek for the fresh stuff!
