Just my two cents and a disclaimer: I've never taken Reich's class. I interpret his point as stating that there isn't someone ultimately and inherently evil. And it might just be the environment that makes them behave and act in a certain way.
Whenever my friends and I get into a discussion, I would ask them, "if we were in their position, would we by any different? Maybe we will do worse things."
Some people love to make fun or insult those in power (mainly celebrities and politicians). We laugh at the silly remarks and statements they make but let's put ourselves in their shoes. There is a high chance that we will spew out remarks equally silly and embarrassing. We call our Politicians greedy pigs but put ourselves in their shoes, and there is also the likelihood that we will act and committ the same action as them.

Are your sisters forced into the marriage? Can they actually reject and choose when they want to get married?
