Worse, my wife's terminal lung cancer is almost certainly caused by continuous exposure to her father's secondhand smoke throughout her childhood. She's been battling it for two years and recently decided to stop treatment. All it's doing is prolonging her misery.

my church tells me to question everything.

Many people are surprised that many Christian churches value reasoning and questioning. Most all of the denominational offshoots of Methodism base their faith on the Wesleyan Quadrilateral, which enshrines scripture as paramount, but that our faith is also understood through reason, experience, and tradition.

> sauerkraut

Cured sauerkraut sold in the refrigerated section of groceries has probiotics. Canned and jarred kraut is heated to a point where all cultures are killed, it's basically just pickled cabbage.

Most people freak out about death, and don't want to hear you talk about it.

When my wife died in her mid-50s, exactly two people gave me safe space to talk, both of them friends at the church where we had worshipped for many years: a fellow choir member, and a friend who is a medical doctor. The latter definitely sought me out and encouraged me to talk, it was incredibly cathartic even though she only listened and made appropriate touches. Her compassionate approach made me think she is a truly amazing doctor to her patients.

This is why I like owning my own mail domain, with an address catch-all. I can literally make up addresses on the fly, a different address for every purpose, and it all lands in my inbox. If a specific address starts getting spammed, I can then determine the source, and set up a forward for that address to send the spam out into nowhere instead of my inbox.
