Can you elaborate on how they figured things out?

Same happened to me and my wife but it was caught before it got too far. I think ours was through one of the medical insurance breaches and someone tried filing false tax returns with our SSN's (IRS notified us).

We really need to get away from using SSN for everything.

Your issue is about more than just sex. You two may want to seek a professional therapist's help for this. If she really loves you and your relationship is good, she should want to meet your needs to some degree.
