Once in a while I think I hear Tom Lehrer as a forerunner to some of your comedic songs ("Have You Seen My Sister Evelyn", "Dear Daily Mail", "Vegemite Song"). How much or how little were his classics from the late 1950's/early 1960's an influence on your songwriting?

Our friend who completed the AT said her biggest objection was that Bryson didn't emphasize trail ethics, such as leave no trace, pack it in/pack it out, etc. She recommended "AWOL on the Appalachian Trail" by David Miller as a better introduction. (I've only read the Bryson book, myself.)
