Given the data and computational landscape has changed drastically over the decades, what are the data privacy concerns when reporting on the census?

This personally hits home for me. I originally was in physics and wanted to pursue research in physics education with an emphasis on educational psychology. All my physics professors told me that this research path was beneath me and I should focus on something else. Later on, I decided to switch fields completely (statistics). When I told my physics professors, they said they were relieved I was still researching something "worthwhile". :/
