As a former NCO, I shared your frustrations. I agree that much of the training is just check-the-block CYA crap, but on issues like DUI and sexual assault, I think your view is too short-term. Changing attitudes that have been internalized by a massive organization like the US Army isn't about one class, it's about constantly hammering home that certain behaviors are not acceptable. And it's not about stopping guys from hiding in the bushes, attacking women, and raping them; it's about preventing the less obvious situations (which typically involves alcohol and/or questionable consent) as well as increasing everyone's awareness of potentially dangerous situations like the sober guy taking the drunk female back to her room.

As I understand it, ocean dwelling fish have a drastically lower chance of having parasites than freshwater fish.
