Are there any fears of contaminating Mars by landing a manned mission, especially if there are plans to produce water and oxygen, or is that the plan, i.e. to colonize Mars by cultivating aerobic bacteria & plants to kick-start an ecosystem?

How does NASA plan to land on Mars? Is the capsule going to crash to the surface or will there be some sort of controlled descent or an airbag-Pathfinder approach (which seems unlikely, though very cool)? Also, will missions involve launching off of other planets, moons,etc? How will that happen?
