I cut the tip of my thumb off a few years ago on a slicing machine. It honestly happened so fast all it felt like was a quick tap on the tip of my thumb, then it felt very.. cold? It was an odd sensation. By the time I looked at my thumb to see what happened, which was about 1 second after, my entire hand was covered in blood. Within a few minutes it was throbbing like crazy. I could feel my pulse painfully throughout my entire hand and forearm. Luckily it healed back ok (I just lost some flesh.. no bone) but it is still very sensitive on the end and my thumbnail has a kind of dent in it. The healing process over the next few days was some of the most excruciating pain I've ever been in, but the incident itself was painless.

I don't mean this is any kind of ignorant/rude way, but is your family gypsy/roma? (Not sure if either of these terms are pc.) I always thought circus performers were.
