When you move to Iceland, you have to learn to speak their language within a year or else you become a troll (but a nice one).

While waiting for OP to respond, I may be able to provide you with a little insight. I had a near death accident and spent some time in the hospital when I was 13, so it's not quite the same story, but OP's experience may have had the same effect.

In short it changes the way you look at life and death. I found death much less scary or impressive after what happened. You will never realise that you died, only others will, so why be scared? Once you die, you stop existing, so why worry, just be happy while you're there, and if it's your tim to go, go. Same goes with other people. I was 'happy' when both my grandparents died. It was their time to go, they were ill, and had lived a full life. There was nothing to be sad about. I know it sounds emotionless, it's hard to explain. I'm happy that they lived, not sad that they died.

Life is just this little thing that happens to you for a while, and then stops. That's all there is to it, nothing about life or death is scary. It just... happens.
